O Finalmente Restaurant is a family-run restaurant in Manta Rota, open since 1978. Here, cooking is done as it always has been in this part of the Algarve: with time, with respect for the products, and without rushing. We weren't born to follow trends. We were born to cook.
Who we are
The Finalmente started as a beach bar, in a still-wild Manta Rota, where there was little more than a campsite, and grew like many Algarve restaurants of yesteryear: a simple house, made to feed well whoever showed up.
Over the years, the house has grown, the village has changed, the summers have become fuller, but the cuisine has remained true to its base.
Today, the restaurant is in the hands of the second generation of the family, with the same idea as always: honest food, old flavours and a close relationship with those who sit at the table.
We try to maintain this continuity with some contemporary notes.
We defend the old, the tradition and the territory, but we know that we need to adapt to the present, without hurting, without spoiling.
OUR WAY OF COOKING
We cook traditional Algarve cuisine.
That means rice cooked just right, broths made with time, oven working without haste and dishes that cannot be explained in two sentences.
We use simple ingredients, but with quality.
Some of our dishes take time.
Others only appear when it makes sense.
Not everything is fast. Not everything is always available.
And that's okay.
We believe that good food needs time, and that those who visit us understand that.
TWO SEASONS, TWO APPROACHES
Our year is naturally divided into two very different realities.
In winter and low season, we have time.
Time to cook more slowly, to deepen flavours, for oven dishes, long stews and experiences designed for those who come calmly. It is at this time that we like to show the kitchen at its most complete pace, and to welcome those who want to sit at the table without a clock.
In the summer, the house fills up.
There are many people, little time and many customers who are passing through.
The stoves accelerate, the menu adapts and the dishes become lighter, fresher, more direct, without ever ceasing to be from the Algarve and with soul.
It's neither better nor worse.
It's different.
We like to welcome those who discover us for the first time.
But we like even more those who repeat, who come back every year, even if only to see how we are a year later.
WHAT SETS US APART
We are not a tourist seafood restaurant.
We are not a trendy restaurant.
And we are not a restaurant "for everyone".
We are a house where razor clams, tuna, rice dishes and stews are the stars.
A menu designed to respect local tradition, made on the day, without exaggerations and without shortcuts.
We prefer to make fewer dishes, but make them well.
We prefer to explain why something takes time, instead of promising everything at all times.
WHERE WE ARE
We are on Manta Rota beach, in the Algarve (Sotavento), away from the noise of the large tourist centres and close to what really matters: good food and well-set tables.
We receive regular customers, local people, and those who find us looking for serious Algarve food.
If you are looking for absolute speed or a menu identical to all the other places, perhaps we are not the best choice.
If you are looking for old flavours, dishes made with time and a house with history, then sit down.
